Natural Fibre Composite with 3D Veneer Surface / 2009

Searching for a technology that would allow the production of components with surfaces made of textile as well as wood by using the same tools and process, we commissioned tests where for the first time natural fibre composite fleece was thermally compressed with 3D veneer as top and bottom layer.
The results were very successful after adjusting the adhesive bond. Thus, plywood geometries which could so far only be realized by many layers of 3D veener now become much lighter, cheaper and more stabile. This innovative combination of materials does not only offer an inexpensive but also a highly ecological solution.
